About me

Hi, I’m Harry Young – a Perth-based artist and trade-qualified printer with a love for all things design.

Art and design have always been at the core of my work. From a childhood spent experimenting with photography to developing my own digital art style, my creative journey has been deeply influenced by artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, as well as the clean lines and bold forms of Mid-Century Modern design. This passion for design has remained constant from high school to my early freelance days.

Driven by a strong interest in pursuing design professionally, I studied Graphic Design and Pre-Press Production, which opened the door to the world of print. I soon began working at Arts Edge Gallery, where I’ve spent the last eight years as their wide-format printer and digital design technician, among other creative roles. I was fortunate enough to complete a printer apprenticeship through Arts Edge, becoming a trade-certified printer. Working alongside artists—both emerging and established—has given me the opportunity to help bring their creative projects to life.

My experiences in the local art scene have been both enriching and rewarding. I’ve had the honour of receiving multiple awards at the Joondalup Community Art Exhibition, including the Artist in Focus award, which led to a solo exhibition with the City of Joondalup. These experiences have fueled my passion for art and kept me excited about pushing my boundaries.

While I often return to my signature style of smooth digital painting and bold graphic line-work, I’m continually exploring new techniques and mediums. This has led me to experiment with different digital approaches and physical forms like concrete sculpture. My creative process is fluid and organic, allowing ideas to take shape naturally, which generally results in work that feels more authentic than forced.

For my personal projects, I can be quite particular once I have a vision in mind, yet I also find great satisfaction in working to a client's specifications. The constraints of a client brief challenge me in a different way, tapping into my problem-solving mindset as I work to bring someone else's vision to life.
