Forbidden Skate Ramp is my tribute to one of Perth’s most iconic buildings; the Telstra Building on Wellington Street. Almost everyone heading into the city has had the same thought when they see that mysterious slope on the roof.
This piece started life as a tongue-in-cheek digital artwork, poking fun at that universal idea. But beyond the obvious joke, the Telstra Building is an incredible piece of 1970s design and a reminder of Perth’s hidden modernist gems worth preserving.
The Forbidden Skate Ramp concrete sculpture was entered into the 2025 Joondalup Community Art Exhibition, where I was lucky enough to take home the Most Outstanding Work Award. For me, that’s proof that this piece resonates with Perth locals.
This was my first experiment in full 3D sculptures and I'm excited to continue down this path and see where it takes me!
Fine art paper and canvas prints of the original digital piece are available, and a limited run of concrete sculptures are available here! A little piece of Perth lore, cast in concrete.
